Description
This 3-day intensive course is designed for individuals who want to start their own coffee roasting business but currently lack the necessary skills or knowledge. It is also suitable for experienced coffee roasters who wish to deepen their understanding of roasting theory and practices.
Day One: SCA Green Coffee Foundation Participants will explore various coffee species, understand how different processing methods affect coffee flavour, learn how to differentiate between coffee species, practice grading coffee samples, and identify common defects found in green coffee.
Day Two: SCA Roasting Skills Foundation This session focuses on mastering coffee roasting fundamentals. Participants will learn how to operate a coffee roaster, recognize the key stages of the roasting process, effectively record and interpret roast profiles, and identify strategies to avoid common roast defects.
Day Three: SCA Sensory Skills Foundation Participants will enhance their sensory skills, becoming proficient in using the Coffee Taster’s Flavour Wheel, recognizing essential aromas and flavours in coffee, setting up professional cupping sessions, and accurately using cupping forms.
At the end of this masterclass, participants can opt to receive official SCA certificates, issued by the Specialty Coffee Association—the world’s largest professional coffee association. Completing this course equips participants with the comprehensive skills and knowledge necessary to successfully launch and operate a coffee roasting business.
