SCA Roasting Intermediate

Take your coffee roasting skills to the next level with this intensive, hands-on course. Whether you are looking to start or expand a roasting operation, or preparing for a career as a professional roaster, this training will help you master essential techniques, refine your tasting skills, and earn your SCA Roasting Intermediate Certification.

Over three days of immersive learning, you’ll combine theory with practical exercises to build confidence and precision in your roasting practice. You will learn to:

  • Identify and prevent common roasting defects

  • Understand visual and chemical changes during the roasting process

  • Plan and execute optimized roasting profiles with consistency

  • Apply protocols for continuous quality improvement

  • Design efficient workflows and organize your roasting workspace effectively

The course runs from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm over three consecutive days. At the end of the training, you will complete the SCA Roasting Intermediate practical exam. Students then have 21 days to complete the online written exam. Upon passing both, you will be awarded the internationally recognized SCA Roasting Intermediate certificate.

This course is ideal for roasters who already have foundational experience and want to refine their craft, improve efficiency, and achieve benchmark roasting profiles with accuracy.
