Q Processing: Connecting Methods to Quality and Flavor
The Q Processing program demonstrates how processing techniques directly affect coffee flavor and quality, while equipping participants with practical skills to intentionally control these outcomes.
Q Processing Level 1: The Generalist is a comprehensive two-day course combining theoretical instruction with hands-on practice. Participants learn the standardized terminology of coffee processing and engage in comparative cupping sessions. Students who successfully complete the final examination receive the Q Processing Level 1 Generalist certificate.
The course focuses on primary processing methods and their effects on coffee chemistry and flavor development, all within the framework of quality enhancement aimed at increasing coffee’s market value for the benefit of farmers and producers.
Coffee professionals working in consumption-focused sectors of the value chain will also develop a deeper understanding of the complexities and challenges involved in producing high-quality coffee sustainably and safely at farm level.
